If you are out to impress someone and want them to take notice of you, then get your hair dyed in bright colours! You read that right. If researchers from Nottingham Trent University, UK are to be believed, women who dye their hair blonde enjoy increased confidence at work and better sexual experiences in their personal lives. We checked out whether the study holds true and whether fashion conscious women, models and hair stylists in India agree with this latest find.
Celebrity hair stylist Najeeb-ur-Rehman who styles hair of Ameesha Patel and other Bollywood celebs, says, I completely agree with the study since it is true that women who get their hair coloured in offbeat shades like red, blonde or purple have high confidence levels and a certain oomph as they have the guts to break the routine. Obviously, one feels more confident after a makeover. And a makeover could be a rare hair cut or hair colour too. Although the percentage of women going in for blonde colour is less, other catchy colours like purplish-blue, shades of red and brown are being experimented with quite a lot.
Aditi Mishra, who is pursuing an MBA degree, has got golden streaks in her hair recently. She says, I am very experimental when it comes to my looks. I keep trying new hair-cuts, hair colours, accessories and outfits. Recently, I got alternate streaking of blonde and red for my cousins wedding. Trust me, my hair colour was the first thing people complimented me on. Actually this colour is so catchy that you get a lot of attention from people. I feel that one should keep changing in his or her look as it makes one feel pampered and confident from within.
And age is no bar for wanting to look good. Pragati Dubey, homemaker and a teacher by profession says, The advantage of changing ones looks is that not just others, but you too start feeling better from within. I was bored of my long hair which I was not able to manage. A couple of months back I got it cut in steps and layers and got streaking of light brown done on the crown. Not only my friends in the club, but everyone at home noticed and appreciated the change. So obviously your looks do help develop confidence be it home or your workplace.
But not everyone agrees with this view-point. Brazilian model Sanda has a different viewpoint. She says, Agreed that blondes generally attract attention. But I dont think artificial colouring helps you get more attractive or anything. I mean, we have pretty red heads and dark haired people too.
